Wilbraham drops Hogs 14-5
Making their second trip of the week to Massachuetts, the Hogs could not recapture the magic that was the win against Cranx on Tuesday night. Instead, after jumping out to a 3-1 lead, the Hogs ran out of gas and lost 14-5. Ryan Lee played the whole game and stood tall with 10 saves, but the lack of offense after the first quarter, and the presence of Wilbraham star (and world class asshole) Tim Balise was just too much for the Hogs to handle, dropping their record on the season to 6-5. John Kennedy, Corrigan Harreys, Mike Pelzar, Vinny Fletcher, and Nuno Ramos all tallied for the Hogs who will close the regular season Tuesday night in Somers against Team G.O.A.T.. The Hogs will then open the playoffs on the road at a site to be determined on Thursday night.

Hogs Grind Out Critical Win Against Westfield
In what may be a turning point in their 2010 PVLL campaign, the Hogs won a physical battle with the Westfield Cranx 6-5 on Tuesday. Behind a dominant performance in goal from Ryan Lee (5 saves, 3 GA) and Jim Crozier (8 saves, 2 GA), the Hogs defense dictated the course of the action, allowing only three even-strength goals. The defense even contributed on the offensive end, as Pete Barone tallied a critical goal against CVLC teammate Matt Hoffman, who took the loss in goal for the home team. Also scoring for the Hogs were Tyler Reid with two goals and Tyler Fresen with a goal and an assist. Jake Jacobsen tallied as well. However, the most important goal of the day belonged to Mike Schoen, whose hockey shot of a loose ball in front of the goal put the Hogs up for good with twenty-three seconds to play. With that goal, the Hogs all but assured themselves a spot in the PVLL playoffs with two games left in the regular season. Two more wins could mean a home playoff game, an unprecedented feat for a team still in its infancy. As Cranx found out, the Hogs are not a team to be trifled with.

Hogs rout Somers 17-4, set franchise record for wins in a season
The Hogs Lacrosse Club went out Thursday night and took care of business against Somers, winning easily 17-4. The Hogs, coming off a 4-9 year set a franchise record for wins with their fifth of the season. The Hogs were never tested, as evident by Ryan Lee and Jim Crozier each giving up a pair of goals. Crozier took over for Lee in the second half, and stood tall when the Hogs sent several different lineups and players in different positions on the field. Hogs Rookie of the Year Frontrunner Corrigan Harreys paced the Hogs with five points, on four goal and an assist, and Tyler Fresen continued his strong play with three goals and an assist. Brendan Woods chipped in with three points, and continued the neck and neck race with Ryan Lee as the most dependable Xavier alumnus of the season. Pat Bushnell owned the faceoff X all night long, and also owned the longest shifts of the night prompting more than one, "Bushy get off the field" scream across the playing field.

Notes from the night: LSM Ben Jette made an appearance, not only startling the team, but rocking his new Pro-7 won last week in the raffle. Hogs rookie M Jake Jacobsen notched his first goal of his career in the first quarter. D Clay Hillyer scored with a short stick, illiciting several boos from the Hogs sideline. Last but not least, D Scott Schaller was fleet of foot (yeah, I wrote the article) at LSM and even managed to get a shot off late in the fourth quarter.

The Hogs (5-4) return to action Tuesday night in Westfield against the Cranx.
